Therapy begins with developing a safe, trusting and collaborative relationship between the client(s) and the therapist. This becomes the foundation for building on an individual, couple's or family's strengths and helping them to identify areas of need.
You will be introduced to perspectives, tools and skills that can help you to effectively deal with challenges interfering with your sense of well-being.
Therapy offers an opportunity to confidentially explore psychological, behavioral, interpersonal and situational obstacles that impede growth. It can be an effective tool for dealing with everyday problems and help you to regain an overall sense of pleasure in life.
Your therapist will offer creative insights to help you to recognize what may be at the root of current life conflicts. Clients are introduced to proven techniques, that will allow them understanding of thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors that contribute to identified challenges.
Whether individual counseling, relationship counseling or family counseling clients will be exposed to healthier styles of communication and be provided an opportunity to gain a deeper sense of hope and self empowerment. Our ultimate goal is to facilitate growth and healing that will positively impact on your life circumstances.
You decide what is discussed in therapy. Your therapist may guide you but you will take the lead. Issues that may be addressed include but are not limited to:
Depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship enhancement, mediation services, parenting concerns, behavioral change, trauma, intrusive thoughts and compulsions, identity issues, occupational stress, addictions, sexual/physical/emotional abuse, attachment, life transition, care-taker stress, communication, and spirituality.
It takes courage to address problem areas and examine painful feelings. Entering counseling is taking the first step in resolving difficulties.
"When we came to counseling we didn't think our marriage was salvageable. We couldn't have imagined growing and reconnecting with one another the way were able to, after only a few months in counseling...today we have the marriage we always dreamed of, we talk, laugh and even disagree with greater understanding. We will be forever grateful for our therapist at Valley Counseling and Consulting." K. S. (2020)
